Welcome to the Tewkesbury Medieval Festival 2020
11TH - 12TH JULY 2020
A message from the organisers:
As we are unable to host the Festival in Tewkesbury this year due to the current pandemic, we invite you to join us from the comfort of your own home to celebrate the largest festival of its kind in Europe. Virtual Tewkesbury Medieval Festival will include a variety of videos, photos, and information surrounding the Battle of Tewkesbury in 1471. Throughout the weekend we will be looking back at how the Festival has grown from humble beginnings in 1984, and sharing new content specially created for 2020. Final schedule to be announced! Please click here to access the Tewkesbury Medieval Festival website.

Barnet Museum and Local History Society
The mission of Barnet Museum and Local History Society for over 80 years (and as the only museum of its kind in the borough of Barnet), has been to conserve, present and promote the history of the area of Chipping Barnet. The Museum collection covers many aspects of Barnet life from prehistory onwards. It includes displays relating to medieval life, shops, pubs, sport, leisure, costume, childhood, religion, health, both World Wars and of course, that major event which was hugely significant in the history of the Nation, the Battle of Barnet.

The Wars of The Roses: The Battle of Barnet
The Battle of Barnet was a hugely significant battle in the Wars of the Roses. It saw the death of Warwick the Kingmaker, and three English monarchs were present: Edward IV, Henry VI and the Duke of Gloucester – who was to become Richard III. The Battle of Barnet is the only officially registered battlefield in the Greater London area. With the help of volunteers from the Battle of Barnet Project this documentary takes you on a journey to find out how and why the battle took place, introducing the main characters, and seeing how some of the most important locations of the battle fit into the landscape of modern day Chipping Barnet.

Battle of Barnet Banners
Drawing on the Tewkesbury experience and expertise in creating replica banners, Barnet Museum has fashioned over 70 banners representing nobles who fought at the Battle of Barnet. The effort was led by Wars of the Roses historian and researcher Geoffrey Wheeler supported by Museum volunteers.
