Loans Boxes

We currently hold two loans boxes:

Battle of Barnet loans box:
This fantastic resource will bring learning to life in the classroom. These versatile replica artefacts are primarily designed to support learning focused on The Battle of Barnet, but could be used with a local history study, The War of the Roses or broader learning about the medieval period. Contact us for bookings.

1950s Reminiscence box:
Packed with artefacts, books and photographs from 1950s, this resource box is designed to stimulate fond memories and conversations with those who lived in the era. We've supported Dementia Club UK at their weekly meet up at Finchley Memorial Hospital and worked with Age UK. Contact us for bookings.

Quizzes

We have a range of free quizzes for children and adults. Additionally younger children can also look out for the colourful Barnet Museum mice, hiding around the Museum!

Letter Writing Project

We are excited to introduce our children's letter writing project. Whether for a school project, or just to satisfy your curiosity we welcome letters from children who would like to know more about historic life in Barnet.  Send your hand written letters to 31 Wood Street, Barnet, EN5 4BE.

Project work

We have a large archive of photographs and documents, as well as our permanent displays, that can help pupils with project work. If you would like your pupils to use the museum to help research a project please contact us in advance, so that we can tell you what we have that will be useful and be ready to help the students when they come in.

Work experience

Unfortunately we are usually unable to offer short blocks of school work experience. However, we do welcome new volunteers of all ages who are able to offer a longer-term commitment to the Museum. For example, volunteers from local schools have recently worked on projects at the Museum relating to World War One, as well as taking part in the general running of the Museum.
